Mistral Large 4 (ML4, "le Chonk") is Mistral AI's largest and most capable frontier model, featuring 1 trillion total parameters with 49 billion active parameters in a sparse Mixture-of-Experts architecture. It is natively multimodal, accepting both text and image inputs, and excels at reasoning, coding, agentic workflows, and multimodal understanding with a 512K-token context window. Trained from scratch on 3,800 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs in Mistral's own European datacenters, it achieves state-of-the-art performance among open-weight models in cybersecurity, finance, law, and visual grounding. The model is available as a public preview API, with open weights planned for release by end of October 2026.
